August 11th is the release date of Gackt's new single The Next Decade and also the 10th anniversary of the single Vanilla. That deserves some commemorating. ;)
Edit: Don't you think the light-dark contrasts in this thing are just perfect? He's like a total opposite of himself. Even the background matches, lol.

Yuki Kaori (由貴 香織里, born December 18 in Tokyo) is a female Japanese manga artist best known for her gothic comics such as Earl Cain, its sequel God Child, and Angel Sanctuary. Yuki debuted in 1987 with Natsufuku no Erii (夏服のエリー) which ran in the manga anthology Bessatsu Hana to Yume published by Hakusensha.
She is also my favorite manga artist~
I've known Angel Sanctuary for years, it's one of my favorite series of all time, and definitely Kaori's best in the art, story and character department. I own all 20 serialized manga volumes and the artbooks Angel Cage and Lost Angel.
Her style of the late nineties/early 2000-ies (Angel Sanctuary/God Child) is a prime example of how I'd like my art to be, and it's been/continues to be great inspiration. I love that obsessive, dramatic detail. The (often controversial) themes she uses steal my heart easily.
I composed a tiny gallery of her main works of old I adore (Angel Sanctuary, Earl Cain series), and some of her more recent work (Ludwig Revolution):

So what if it's your millionth generic manga girl drawing. :P
With abs even.
This is what I like to do. I just don't fit in a place where I can't do what I like to do..
So.. now I am glad I wasn't admitted to the academy, because if I had gone through with it it would've most like turned out to be a big mistake after a few months. I know my own qualities, I don't need them.
I want to be in a place where people don't turn their heads when I explain how much I like Japan.
It took me about 5 hours, but now I know that this pentablet was definitely a good investment.

After years of outright refusing it, I finally drew Gackt for the first time in my life. 'Tis fail. xD
My scanner killed the thing, so I took a pic of the original:
I'm on such a Gakutora high lately. Ahwell, I get that occasionally. He owns me. v_v;;
Criticism is very welcome. Once again this is my first time drawing Gackt, so go easy on me. xD
Even when drawing using purely pencils I use my scanner to be able to draw in layers, like you would in photoshop. Eheh... *sigh* Need.. tablet..

I've got a splitting headache due to a pointless hour long drive back from Eindhoven ("shortcut" my @$$!), and I just noticed I haven't had anything to drink yet today so need to fix that soon.
*sits down with glass of Lipton Clear Green* Aaahhhh~
So, I got a much needed new Logitech keyboard and mouse for my pc, both wireless. They work perfectly, and I finally have a key with the Euro symbol. It's on the '5' key along with '%', but I don't know how to get the Euro symbol. =/ *tries around, trying not to anger the Gods of Winblows by hitting F-keys...* €! Ah, it was ALT GR. :) *yatta!*
Makes no sense though, '$' has its own key! Throw away a useless symbol like '#' and put '€' on that key instead! ._.
And seriously... Crisis? WHAT CRISIS?! They're selling flat plasma screens larger than our own tv (which cost us almost €1000 some years back) for no more than €700!! Our digital camera, a now oversized Sony Cybershot that once costed €300, you can now get for LESS THAN HALF the price!!!
The shop I just got back from also offers a "screen" about 4 meters long and 2 meters high for €80.000.. I'd seen it before in the same shop in Heerlen but my dad walked by it, stopped and stared in awe for like 5 minutes. Who would even have SPACE for something that big? Well, heh, the same sort of people who can afford it, I guess...
Ah! I won't be alone when 2009 starts!es_chan invited me over, looking forward to it. <333
New very random black/white piece:
This was done with the finest fineliner I had lying around here, but I suck at detail more and more. =/ Well, everything but the corsetlike part was pretty rushed.
*sigh* I need a real challenge. I'll never become an artist if I don't start doing things that actually demand effort from me. Things like this work when I'm bored; it just flows from my pencil without second thought, it's routine. I don't even pay mind to proportions anymore, they just come out good. I didn't even use my eraser a single time on this. xD;;
I want a tablet.

I was supposed to go to Utrecht today but Riona isn't responding to my calls..... D:
So I did this. Well, not really. I drew this like 2 years ago, but I colored it properly only just now, lol.
In the deepest, darkest pits of hell, these eyes will stare at you for eternity. (°д°)
I normally don't draw Jrockers or realistic people in general because I can't capture their beautiful features properly, but Mana is too easy because his face is so featureless, so cartoonish, bwhaha. (My style makes him look like that anyway)
